According to IATA Resolution 753, airlines must track baggage at key points in the baggage journey, including the step of “Return to the passenger”. Traditionally, when a delayed baggage is found or arrives to the destination airport, it is sent out for delivery via a contracted courier service. The airline loses visibility on the baggage from the time it is picked up until it is delivered to the passenger. This is where the WorldTracer Baggage Delivery Service (BDS) suite of apps comes in play by providing a technology platform to help the courier companies facilitate their workflow in addition to helping the airlines comply with the IATA resolution.
WorldTracer BDS is a two component solution:
1) A native mobile app available for iOS and Android that enables the driver uses to pick up, schedule, and deliver the bags to the passenger (incl. delivery signature confirmation).
2) A web app designed for the dispatcher of the courier company to view bags available for pick up and schedule the drivers accordingly. The dispatcher has the ability to locate drivers on the map, update the delivery orders, run various reports, administer the organization, etc.
WorldTracer BDS features include include embedded soft scanning, delivery signature confirmations, offline capability, maps integrations, and many more.
